Josh Peace shares his advice on Morning Meetings
Hands up who has sat in a meeting following a large lunch and found themselves drifting off to sleep? At the very least, you may well find it difficult to concentrate and end up daydreaming. This is why more and more businesses are embracing the ‘morning meeting’. People generally tend to be a lot more alert and find it easier to race through an agenda while still leaving plenty of time in the day to get on with things. Morning meetings are popular within the networking community – meetings are often held as early as 7am so that delegates can have a coffee, embark on a little networking and still be at their desks by 9am.
Josh Peace – public speaker, entrepreneur and CEO of a London-based sales and marketing firm – is thoroughly convinced by the power of a morning meeting. He says, ‘By holding your important meetings in the morning, you are able to tap into a whole lot more energy. You and your meeting delegates will be brimming with energy and you’ll find that the ideas flow so much more easily. Here are Josh Peace’s secrets to holding an effective morning meeting:
Tip 1 – Get Organised
Every single meeting should have a dedicated start and finish time – this stops them from going on too long. You should also circulate an agenda beforehand, along with minutes of the last meeting, so that everybody knows what is to be discussed. Have somebody take notes at the meeting so that the essential points can be summarised.
Tip 2 – Get Refreshed
The smell of coffee brewing in the morning is enough to tempt the most reluctant of attendees in – so make sure the refreshments are served up nice and early. Lay on some croissants too if you really want to keep everyone happy – what a lovely way to start your day! You’ll find people are far more eager to attend a meeting when there is a good quality coffee in it for them.
Tip 3 – Set Personal Objectives
It will help you if you set yourself personal objectives about what it is that you want to achieve from the meeting. This will help you stay on task and prevent the meeting from deviating too far away from the main purpose.
